Until next time

That is all he wrote folks... this is my final blog entry until we hit the road again...
A few points...
To my beautiful wife and team Bacchus navigator... you truly planned and re-planned and re-planned, again and again, happily doing it almost on a daily basis, an absolutely amazing experience.

To our friends (both new and old), family and general randoms who may have stumbled upon the blog... thanks for the feedback, comments, suggestions. While it is a blast seeing new things, the greatest thing about travelling is relationships... growing the existing ones with great stories and building new ones with shared experiences. Thank you for making this trip the best one yet.

Heather and I can be contacted directly at either our email or mobiles (heatherzhere@hotmail.com / 949 887 5693 and riad_bacchus@hotmail.com / 714 931 3985.
Peace, love ya
H & R

I guess we will have THAT?!?

Early in the morning of Dec 31st, we awoke to a sleepy Kota Kinabalu, started the long journey home.
You may recall, originally, we purchased flights from LA to Taipei, and then from there we winged it.
So we simply had to get back to Taipei by 11:50 pm, Dec 31st for our flight home.
We ended up arriving in Taipei quite early in the morning, and with no desire to chill for 12 hours in an airport, we hit the town.

We were warmly greeted at the airport by a giant Mexican Anime character?!?

The general theme of this last stop turned out to be food. We took the bus to "somewhere downtown", found a small local Ramen shop and randomly pointed to text on the menu... we hit the jackpot with a giant delicious bowl of Yum Yum soup.

Walking off the noodles, we noticed a giant tower, designed to look like a traditional Chinese pagoda.

which turned out to be the 3rd highest building in the world.
It also had the world's fastest elevator...

the world's highest outdoor viewing platform, with the world's most awesome view...

where the world's most handsome dude stood...

After all of those world's most, and with a solid 5 hours before takeoff... we decided to get lost in the city.

Taipei is well known for it's fabulous street food, so we "found" a few back alley stands and plunged right in...

Spicy grilled squid tentacles on a stick...

A baked bun stuffed with scallions and bbq'd beef...

Belly's full for a 15 hour flight through the time space continuum... we left Taipei at exactly midnight, as the year flipped from 2013 to 2014 and arrived in Los Angeles at 7:00 pm, Dec 31st... 5 hours BEFORE we left Taipei.
I probably should have bought a freakin abacus while in Asia, time math still hurts my head.
