the most delicious popsicles

My nieces are straight up cool.. cooler than me, cooler than you, cooler than Arthur Fonzerelli.
They wear cool clothes, hang with cool people, do cool things...
But they have never been to the Southern California oasis of cool... Coachella.

For the uninitiated, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is a 3 day bacchanalia of hipsters, sun, sweat and wave upon wave of rocking beats from an eclectic line up of new and legacy (hipster speak for old) bands.
Heather and I are huge live music fans, and have gone off and on, since the very first year.

So as our nieces have grown older, collecting cool badges, this one has alluded them.
Seems Mom and Pops are NOT super stoked on the idea of allowing their innocents into the den of wolves that can be a music festival... go figure.

Kourtney (the oldest and most enterprising) decided to tackle the problem sideways... ask Uncle Riad. After much negotiating and promising of losing significant appendages should any harm come to their preciousnesses... it was decided, Riad, Kourtney and Kaitlyn shall be allowed to hit the big show.

Tickets purchased in early January after a nail biting, waiting in an online queue in early January... sold out in 20 mins.

As you can see, our nieces have grown up into stunning young ladies, with ridiculously kind hearts, and incredibly good decision making abilities... is their Dad still reading?

We wasted no time, hitting the concert grounds early and hard.
Day 1, we saw MS MR, Grouplove, HAIM, Bastille, Broken Bells, Chromeo, Martin Garrix, Zedd and Outkast.., literally from 2:30pm straight through to 12:30am.

Day 2, rinse and repeat... Cage the Elephant, City and Colour, Kid Cudi, Dillion Francis, RL Grime, Lorde, Sleigh Bells, Empire of the Sun and Skrillex.

Highlights were Kid Cudi leading half of Coachella in the sweetest rendition of Pursuit of Happiness, Sleigh Bells killing it on Rill Rill and my nieces re-introducing me to the majesty that is Electronic Music via Dillion Francis and California Love

Oh and yeah... the most delicious popsicles ever, ever ever... but I am betting it was the Klown Kompany :)
