Breath in, Breath out

After getting completely lost, no amount of speed Arabic and mime could help us... we decided to chill and have a bite to eat. Our travel bible, the Lonely Planet had given us guidelines on prices for different establishments. We decided to go local (read cheap) for the first one, and picked a random joint filled with locals.
I said "kebab and rice", they brought this...
This was a filling meal, not spectacular, but decendent... then the bill... 80 US dollars EACH.
Let the fleecing begin... now I am not opposed to dropping some serious coin on a great meal BUT
1. This was not a great meal
2. The random locals around us, EATING THE SAME DAMN THING, were not going to be paying a week's salary.
After a full on shouting match, and a threat to call the tourist police, they relented and we walked out with our wallet intact and a very very very important lesson learned about agreeing upon price BEFORE you start eating, site seeing, sleeping, etc.

Re-establishing our zen, with a calming sunset on the Nile...

What I should have had for dinner. I wonder what effect grilling has on its potency?

A late night fig milkshake (prices were negoiated BEFORE the blending began)...

Finished out our first day with tea and sheesha (apple or other flavoured tabacco, smoked through a water pipe)...

Heather is a master at smoking this thing... a College education not gone to waste...

I, on the other hand, was not... my eyes say it all...
