After the magic of the first waterfall, we were excited to capture lightening in a bottle again.
This trail put the ROUGH in rough.
On top of that, due to the previous night, stroll turn bath, all of our clothes were soaked.
I choose to trek in wet pants, Heather opted for the sarong.
The payoff for this hike was just... OK. Standard jungle beach, super isolated, but perhaps the thought of having to hump back through the jungle was a little off putting.
On the way back, there was a section where ropes were required to scale a steep rock face, Heather slipped and was introduced to a spiky palm.
Looks a lot worse than it is, at least that is what I keep telling her.
We finally headed back to the fishing village of Bako Bazaar to catch the bus back to Kuching.
You may recall it was pissing down rain on the way out, so we missed this semi important notice...
DANGER, Beware of Crocodiles, in the damn water... this, after 2 days of slashing around at the beach....arghhh.
We ended the day with hot tea and new friends, chatting about the joys of the trail, fear of elephants and why married straight men from California, as a rule, get their toes painted.
From left to right. Justin the Englishman, his lovely Japanese wife, Miyuki, their daughter Hannah, Dylan the strapping Aussie, and the newly engaged Japp Jon and Lisette (Dutch).
