Umm you can keep the Durian

Our final night at Lucy's Homestay, turned out to be the final night for most of the guests staying there.
Over breakfast, and passing each other on the way to the single cold water only shower, we had become quite close.
Rosanna, a lovely Dutch girl from a small village outside Amsterdam, had the wonderful suggestion to have Christmas dinner together before we all go our separate ways.

Heather and I hit the street market to pick up some goodies.

Which of course, had to include Rambutan... tables and tables of delicious Rambutan.

We also watched this master chef de fruit? frutcher (a butcher of fruit)?... whatever, the man was talented with a knife, and made fast work of this Jack fruit.

14 travelers, 8 nations, 15 different dishes and tons of good cheer... isn't this what the holidays are all about?

Not quite a partridge in a pear tree... our host Lucy was a big big fan of the German mash potatoes.

Dessert was Durian-sicles.
A little sidebar on Durian... in SE Asia, Durian is known as the "King of Fruit", and has a distinctive odor. Some people think velvety and sweet, others think gym socks soaked in raw sewage... opinions vary.
The Malays make Durian creamsicles and sell them at the 7-Eleven.
Of the 14 guest, only these 4 had the stomach to enjoy... Rosanna, Lucy, Heather and a giant Swede.
