Life is better, down where it is wetter

During our snorkel excursion, we hitched a ride on a scuba boat.
So it was with more than a little envy, we listened to the bottled air junkies wax on how life is better down where it is wetter.
Heather had never scuba'ed before, and although I am certified fresh Open Water, it had been over ten years since I dove, and could barely tell the difference between a regulator and a flux capacitor.
Thankfully, our new friends at Scuba Junkies had a perfect option... Discover Scuba Diving... one day, 3 dives, paired with an instructor.
He swims (as opposed to walks), you through the basics... how to breathe and how to look awesome in a wetsuit.

The pier at Penang Point points to endless green ocean and blue skies...

The dive boat, loaded with oxygen and dreams of meeting Flounder, Ariel and Nemo. Yikes, that was super cheese... sorry.

Riad, attempting to execute the classic Scuba roll off the boat, followed by pointed instruction from the captain, "Hey dipshit, there is a ladder on the other side!!!"

Heather seriously has gills. She was an absolute natural.
She breezed through the Discover Scuba stuff, so the instructor taught her how to take off and on her mask underwater as well as remove and replace the regulator.
She calmly executed... plus she is super hot with a knife strapped to her calf.

We saw a decent amount of seafood, err sea life, including clown fish, box fish, a hermit crab and a school of small barracuda, but they refused to stay still for a shot.
The only one that would work with me was the blue star fish... wonderful subject, really owned the camera, was totally fierce.

Heather was 10,000 leagues below, so I had to take an underwater selfie...

This is the "wear the wetsuit at your waist" lesson.

Heather's... umm nature floatation devices, required the occasional hand to explore the depths.

Big thanks to Nigel, the Kiwi dive master who kept us safe in the water and entertained on the boat.
